BIRD OF FIRE and FREEDOM

She flies over valleys and mountains…
A bird with wings magnificent and huge
Enveloping  those in desire and need
Within her folding wings of refuge

She tries to give them the courage
Their trials and confusions to face
And before she flies away again
She holds them in a flaming embrace

Taking them with her if they so desire
When the wind calls again for her to go
As she dances above the mountain tops
Showing them a beautiful world to know

And then she blesses them with a sweet kiss
As through the clouds she dances and sings
Of all the love, hope and peace upon her wings
That she wishes with all her heart  to bring

Her  wings are of flaming truth and fire
Wanting to take them with her up into the sky
Forever… she flies into the sun to be reborn
Always, she ascends ever higher and higher!

Author notes

"The most BEAUTIFUL thing in the world is NATURE!" Inspired by option #2

This is what came to mind from the photo - a Phoenix flying over lakes and mountains; a part of Nature yet rising above Nature as well.

Nature has comforted and soothed my wounds many times, and She is always there for us. We are all a part of Her, and need to realize our connectedness.

Thank you for this contest in honor of Her, our beautiful Mother, Nature.

I love the imagery you used in your poem to convey the nature of the pheonix. These are truly magnificent creatures, ne? The hope, comfort and love you have crafted into your creation is truly inspiring. Good job.

this is so sweet, loving and inspirational. It reminds me of my mother who passed over to be with God two weeks ago. It reminds me of something that she might send for me to read if she were able too or maybe she has. I was going to enter this contest but my words are failing me and if they weren't this would be something I would have loved to write myself. Lmao...well....now I know she must have sent this to me. I didnt notice the author until just now!!! Karen, thank you so much for writing this!!!!!

I am glad that my poem "Bird of Fire and Freedom" comforted you. It is truly written in the Spirit of those who have passed over that want to bring peace, hope and inspiration to their loved ones, and all of humanity that is ready to receive it.

I am pleased that you like it. I wasn't sure it fit the criteria for your contest, but it is what came to mind from the photo - a Phoenix flying over lakes and mountains; a part of Nature yet rising above Nature as well.

It started off as an unrhyming free write and after I edited it a few times, it ended up with a loose rhyming scheme.

I am happy to enter your wonderful contest. Anything for Nature!
