A day back in time...

I went back in time the other day,
Not on purpose you understand?
I was trying to invent a useful machine,
You know one that would allow me to lose weight,
Without a diet though,
Would have sold millions if it had worked,
But nope it didn't
Instead I went back in time,
Stupid thing only worked once too,
Made me a right fool when I tried to show it off...

But onto the tale, as I said I went back in time,
I met someone who I never thought I'd see,
A chap called Henry said he was a king,
I laughed at first I didn't know you see,
But I think he got the message through,
So there was I chatting with him,
Telling him about what a lousy day I'd had,
He commented quite rightly that his had been worse,
He'd just found out his child was a girl,
At first I was a little bit annoyed,
There's nothing wrong with being female,
But I suppose he had a point when he pointed out,
That females can not really make a very good king...
So we chatted a bit longer till I started to twig,
This man was actually telling the truth,
I did a few sums and thought really hard,
Asked him the year, sure wasn't mine,
But just as I was about to ask him some secrets,
Wouldn't you know it the machine worked again!
So here I am back in the present,
With a bust up old can and nothing to show,
For the time I went back and met Henry the eighth.
I tried to rebuild it but nothing would work,
So here I am now banged up with the insane,
And all because of my trying to lose weight!
