Did we know what love was when we were kids
You just a little boy of 5 and I a sweet girl of 7?
Did we know what we were saying
when we promised each other forever?
Did anything else goin on
in this world even matter to us?
Wasn't it great living in our little world?
We would play house and dream of all the children we would have
We planed our marriage from day one
No one was ever going to tear us apart
For 5 years we spent every day together
and no one else mattered
But things don't always happen as planned
and then one day you were gone
Years were spent apart
time changed us both
But when we were together again after we both hit our teenage years
love really did mean something to us
Do you think this time
we knew what we were saying when we promised each other forever?
Do you remember the first time we made love?
Even tho it was neither of our firsts it was still special
But like before things don't always go as planned
and you were taken from me yet again
Both of us needed to live our lives
so some more years were spent away from each other
But then one day I could feel it in my heart
and I knew I was no longer the only one you loved
You found someone else and she now shared your heart
and all of this it tore me apart
Did we know what we were saying
when we still promised each other forever?
The years went by
then I found someone new
I began to share my heart with some one else
While all a long holding on to our forever
No matter who hard I tried
he could never be you
Time went by
and we both learned some hard lessons
In both our hearts we knew
the only right people for us was each other
And after many years
we got back together
In less then one month
we will be married a year
So baby
Did we know what we were saying when we promised each other forever?

Not the greatest lol but its the only thing i could think of right now, its kinda long.. it just seems so hard for me to write a love poem about my husband and i cause there is just so much to cover to have a person understand why our love is so special!

awww, I love reading about child hood friends becoming married. True soul mates are hard to find, and when most do they pass them by. I think you did a great job sissy, cuz it is from the heart, and dont worry on the spelling, I cant spell either........Crystalgodess

This is a beautiful story you tell here. The good and the bad .....usually poetry speaks of one or the other...not both....which is what love is....you pulled me in.....and the ending is perfect.

I liked it it has the happy connotations but it was still that little sad through out esp when you talk of the time after your teen years.I'm so glad that forever worked out forever for you two. There were a few spelling mistakes through the poem also. From a judging point of veiw go back through and spend a little time working on it now since you have it in the comp. thankyou for entering and best of luck in the contest. -
