Our dormant Winter seeds had lain together
Beneath a glittering frost-blanket
For an age
Apart
We never knew how close we were
Until the waxing sun roused our shoots
As time moved on
We grew together
Racing
Entwining our lives
Our love blossomed in the Spring
When all was fresh and green
We grew together
And spent long hot Summers
Weathering
Gathering memories and living life
Making ourselves a place in the world
Sowing seeds of our own
But now, as the Autumn of our lives
Blows in on a cooler breeze
We both know there's a new season ahead
Even the leaves around us are changing
Even the best parts of us
Are turning to gold
Golden memories - come Winter -
Will be treasure
But for now
As Autumn holds us
Rocks us
All we can do is feel the breeze on our faces
And breathe in the scents of the fall
Because Love
In Fall
Holds all the colours
All the passion and peace
And the memories
Of when
We Fall
In Love
Author notes
I'm English, but I was prepared to sacrifice my love of the word 'Autumn' for the US 'Fall' because it fell better with the ideas of the poem.

Great title, metaphor, and imagery.
A very creative write, well done.

Great imagery and metaphores in this poem. I really like it. I think you meant "sowing" seeds though. Good luck in the contest
