Hello Stranger: Are you looking for Mama?
Have you been here before; will you be my new Daddy?
I won't be a bother; you won't even know I'm around.
Mama needs a man, and I need a Dad.
She said, Come in Stranger--make this your new home.
Mama is waiting, and I have been waiting on a new Daddy.
Can't you stay; will you be my new Daddy? Will you be Mama's new man?
Stranger come in be my new Daddy; be Mama's new man.
My last Daddy left last week, and Mama wants a new man.
She said, "Won't you come in Stranger?
Will you be my new Daddy; will you be Mama's new Man?
I hear Mama crying at night because she needs someone to keep her company."
Sometimes I cry too, because I need a Dad.
Please be my new Dad; be Mama's new man.
Doesn't that sound like a plan?
Really--you can be that man.

Rings a familiar bell but I can't put a finger on it. "Hello Stranger" is old a country song I've heard somewhere back in time am I right Happy trails.

Yes, Johnny Cash sang it some years back. I took the title from his song and put a different spin on it. I love his songs; I think that Johnny and Hank Williams sr. are my favorite singers of all time.
I gather by the kind of writing that you do that you are a country music fan too--right?
David, thanks for commenting on this one.

It is so sad ...
that innocent children must suffer the sorrow of their parents ... This poem touched my heart, because the reader can really relate to the child wanting happiness for the mother. Of course a child needs a mother AND a father!
Your work is real and sincere. Thank you, Poet.

Dear Damon,
Wonderfully written my dear Friend.
It would make a great country song as it's very sad, the poor little mite sounds so sad. It would be terrible to have to grow up lonely for a Father and not all of them have good intentions towards that child.
I enjoyed reading your poem very much.
Love from your Australian Friend.

Angelica,
Thank you so very much for the kind comment on Hello Stranger. I actually based this on a song by Johnny Cash. The song had the same title but nothing like the same content. His song (if I remember correctly) is about a man coming home from an extended trip and his wife welcoming him home. He had been gone so long that he seemed like a stranger to her. Thanks again for your kind comment.
Your American Friend,
Damon

Thanks so much Sandy. This one was based on one a song that Johnny Cash sang. I think the name of his song is Hello Stranger or Come in Stranger or something like that. He (in the song) had been on a trip and his wife was welcoming home. I kind of put a different spin on the title.
Thanks again!
