Bittersweet Remains

The angels heard your silent pleas wishing for my love, from heaven
they sealed our love with destiny and sent it to us on the winds of fate.
They felt the sorrow that afflicted the deep dark reaches of your heart
and granted your wish with my undying love as your eternal soul mate.

A sad sweetness filled the air while a flame of desire had ignited between
us, for I loved you at first glance and you loved me with words unspoken.
Then that night as you reached out for a hug your voice softly whispered
to me “I love you baby,” I never thought that my heart would be broken.

Your love fell tender on my heart as I wiped away your tears as they fell,
making the promise that never again would you cry in my warm embrace.
Soft candlelight flickered in the dark the night I gave you my forever love
only wishing to have your breath upon my skin and your kisses on my face.

A blue rose tattoo etched into my delicate skin has now become a risen scar
just like the bleeding cut of your love eternally engraved upon my old soul.
As I watched you leave I also watched my heart while it slowly died silently
in agony for I knew that your heart still loved me so, my love made you whole.

Entombed in a cemetery that could belong in a Nightmare Before Christmas,
my heart buried deep in an abyss that casts a soft glow of absinthe green mist.
A single purple lily lies upon the headstone that’s engraved with your words of
old “I love you baby,” buried with the memories of the first night that we kissed.

The jackals of lost love come every night to feast, the blood of my very soul
their wine, my heart their dinner and for dessert my chocolate covered pains.
Through the darkness I can still hear your heart as it cries out to where my own
lies in eternal unrest, because our love is still more than just bittersweet remains.

Truly a good write. Verry well done. Finding a love that last forever is getting so hard to do. And hurts last forever.

Wow... okay... I have to say I really enjoyed this... it flowed very well. I loved how full every line was! You obviously put a lot of time and thought into this. The rhyming was also exquisite and the little details made a big difference. Wonderful job, good luck in the contest, I think this was fabulous!
