Suicide Bombers

Missing image
There are so many of us stuck in this place
And the guy next to me has got no face
Most of them dead and the rest screamed
Ours was the first side that got creamed
I can hardly hear the cries any more
Can’t move my legs to crawl for the door
Mum and Dad have both gone I know
Now I have no place on earth to go
I am so tired I can’t even cry tears
It is hard to see and there's pain in my ears
What is there left when we live this way
Fighting and friends are dying each day
Scared to visit shops or go to our schools
No future when we are governed by fools
Low flying aircraft bombing our towns
Flying glass, broken buildings in mounds
Blood every day, no fresh water or food
Mum, why should I snap out of this mood?
Things look strange floating to and fro
God, where is my sister? I don’t even know
Now there’s a tremendous pain in my head
I won’t be sorry if they find me dead

Author notes

Some young kids never get a chance to even know what being a kid means in the free world. They live with fear every day.

So true. This reminds me of the holocaust. The books I've read about it are very similar to your poem. The only problem I see with it is that your flow in the rhyme was off a bit in a couple lines due to wording.

These sorts of works really hit me though; the imagery, the feelings. They are so very real and raw. The books I read were exactly like this for me. Congratulations on such a successful poem; I can relate it to a novel that made me feel the whole way through.

    Thank you for entering.
