Mustang's Gather
O'er the grassy plains,
they run elegantly,
with low lying clouds,
it seems they're flying.
Their pace slows,
and they come to a halt.
The stallions rears up,
belting an explosive neigh.
The mares prance around,
nickering a response,
then all settle down,
to devour upon the sweet grasses.
The colt's and filly's
romp around,
chasing and nipping
each other for fun.
The morning turns to noon,
the noon to eve,
dusk creeps in
and it's time for them to leave.
That old stallion rears up again
calling to all,
then off they run,
To a place unknown.
But they'll be back again
tomorrow I know,
for I have come to watch
these magnificent steeds for years on end.
So goodnight to all,
good night to my wonderful friends.
