Shedding Liquid

A watery mask
Glistening solemnly
Brimming over
Slipping off and falling
Downward lashes
A salty puddle
Of muddled doubt
Each teeming drop
Becomes a prayer
Till my heart is relieved
And tears cease to fall.

Author notes

Tears are often thought of as weakness. But I have come to realize that this is not the case at all. Tears show healing, provide comfort, brings peace, and makes us remember we are human.

    Wow that's a lot of contests.

    I think that you've done an okay job at saying a lot in a few words, but I've seen better short poems. You've presented tears in a different way that I am used to and that is a great thing. Well done overall.
    Keep it up.

    How right you are; tears do aid in the healing process. We get those feelings out, be they happy or sad, and we move on. Liked the flow of these lines and the message you share.

    I really like it

    Jesus, the strongest man that ever lived wept. I think in a lot of cases the ability to cry shows that you are comfortable with who you are. A strong person can show their emotions.

    YEs, tears can show the transition between something very hurting, sad, happy etc. to that of normalcy again. Makes sense. Good thinking. Easy to read and understand these brief lines with words.

    cool idea. i don't like the word mask, as it is is overused in poetry. but i like the stages in such a short poem. good job. thanks for entering.
