What I had found was painfully true,
yes my son had died, I'm so blue.
I was so excited for sobriety had come,
walking with the Lord is where this came from.
He was so happy and so full of life
overcoming the drugs with all his strife.
Addiction is a horrible disease.
I prayed to God, spare him please.
My son just used on one day
he is gone now we no longer play.
I was so disappointed with the choice he made
He is no longer here, his life slowly fades.

What would you feel if you lost your son to an overdose, after sobriety in just one day???

Incredibly Sad!
I can feel your pain & love. Here is a suggested edit:
Painfully true,
My son died, so blue.
Excited sobriety had come,
Walking with the Lord, where this came from.
He so happy, full of life
Overcoming drugs with all his strife.
Addiction, a horrible disease.
I prayed to God, spare him please.
He used one day
Now he's gone
We no longer play.
So disappointed with the choice he made
No longer here
He to me so dear

I know that sometimes that's all it takes.. just that one time...
He made a bad choice, but out of a mind still caught in the disease.. and not because he didn't love you or his family. I'm feeling your pain hun... keep getting it out here!

This breaks my heart. I know you must live in hell missing him every day. Keep drawing on the strength of the Lord daily. The pain will never go away, only ease...a bit.
I hope it does well in the contest.

Dearest sister, this truly breaks my heart. Your pain is still so raw and on the surface and I know you deal with crippling pain everyday! Just keep the faith that you will see him again in a setting where he will always be happy and free! God Bless sis,
Frogz~
