The Wallaby

There's a Wallaby up by the railway track;
He's there nearly every day,
Eyes watch me as I go by;
With dark grey fur and bright, clear eyes,
And legs like springs, to hop.
Large soft ears to hear all sounds.
Long tail to steer the way.
A kind of little Kangaroo;
But a species of it's own.
You have to love this little guy, in his grassy home.

      I thank you and so does my little wallaby. They are so cute themselves and only little guys compared to their cousins the Kangaroos.

    I do love the Wallaby - or the 'Wabbaley' as I've heard them described. Wonderful little animals, sort of a mixture of Padymelon and Kangaroo don't you think? I just realised it's an Acrostic - well done. Perhaps a photo too Bob to show all of those poor non-Australians what our Fauna means to us. Von

      Von, my dear, its so hard to get a decent photo of these shy little animals. I will get there and then when my skills improve I will put up photos. I have lots of our area and the river. Thank you for you encourageing comments.

      Hello George. Thank you for your comment and your compliment for my love of Nature. The dumb creatures, as you call them have been on this earth for maybe millions of years without the benefit of artificial shelters and scientific advancement. They are still here; maybe not so dumb? Yes i do love the 'dumb' creatures, I think they are truly wonderful, but then I have the time now to watch them often in their own environment. I really appreciate your your comments as they show me that I am telling the story as it is, Thank you again. Cheers and best wishes, Bob.

      Thank you Poppa, and yes I do live in an amazing place. Many would not see it as I do, many don't have the time to stop or a reason to stop, and look. It's all there, waiting. I went to town today and was glad to get home again.I will have to leave here one day and will miss this place something terrible. Cheers to and peace, my friend, Bob
