Friends forever is what they said.
That was when they dared to tread
On the sturdy bridge of friendship.
"So what!" they said when boy and girl
tried just being friends in a twisted world,
On the unsteady bridge of friendship.
Girl fell in love, but boy did not.
The friendship slowly starts to rot,
On the burning bridge of friendship.
Both felt adolescence at its worst.
Boy and girl no more converse,
On the deserted bridge of friendship.
Author notes
This is actually a true account. A weird thing is that I thought of the concept of a bridge by this one line from The Phantom of the Opera, "The bridge is crossed, so stand, and watch it burn."

Wow that's a very unique way to look at this classic sort of situation. Nice rhyming in there and also a good message behind what you've stated. I totally get the point of what you're trying to say and this is a very good poem! Thanks for entering my contest.

This was a sad poem but very good. I liked the idea of a bridge of friendship, made me think of the phrase 'building bridges'. When one collaspes, try and build it again! I loved it =] Well done
