To see within my eyes
you may find everything or nothing.
Many before have looked into my naivety
taking advantage with deceitful promises.
Much of the sparkle has dulled over time
as my spirit became jaded and torn,
walls erected between this world and me
where pain can never again invade.
To trust again has become the hardest of tasks
most will only see this mask I now wear
to move past this facade will take endless patience
the test of time will prove your resolve.
If you want to know me, then you're in for the long haul
I don't give so easily of my soul anymore
a gentle, polite exterior you'll see
while beneath there lies distrust from past grief.
The walls will crumble if your truth is pure
you'll encompass the pain and make it your own,
then I'll know truly I am blessed with great worth
until then shadows shall flit across these orbs.
