Sister

She always looked at them with pride.
So many times she had cried.
They do not know how she loves them so.
But keep things from her, they could just let her know.

She was great at keeping silent,
and was the one who acted violent,
to the ones who made you sad,
deep down she'd feel real bad.

She always watched over you, she kept alert,
and made sure that who broke your heart, hurt.
She loved to see you smile, yet you hate her.
Though she acted like a brother, she was a girl sure.

All the times you hurt, she hurt too.
All the times you were blue, she got you through.
You'd tell her stuff once upon a time.
And she'd give you the advice on the dime.

Deep down she cried, but you never asked her why,
and all you did was heave a sigh.
Though you never did see or hear it, you'd never ask
She went through more problems but she always wore her mask.

Perhaps one time she was just like you,
but she never truly had someone to turn to.
So she wears the mask of strength and wisdom,
All just so you wouldn't see how she worked her system.

She found out the reason you never talk to her like you used to,
and she sobs because she missed you.
You see tears on her face, at first glance.
But turn your head and ignore her "cants"

Perhaps one day her mask will slip,
but for now she seals her lip.
She hides her girl-self and acts like a man,
but she cries like a girl, when she can.

Please tell me what you think
