i can wear them like badges
or sing them like songs
feel them,discard them
or leave them to rot
whatever choice,
i'm still here,
i'm still walking,
and i'm still alone
but i wonder for how long
because the rivers are flowing
and the fire is a steady burn
that keeps me going on
in the back of my mind
you're holding me tight
and it gets worse at night
but in the end it leaves with
me wanting you with me
and if i can't eat the apple
i'll take the seeds to grow my own tree
and i'll let you go so we can be together and free.
