When I was a child, I was so happy, so bright,
That the whole world would bow, to my beautiful light,
Most elders saw me, as a way of escape,
My happiness brought them, to a more pleasant fate,
And everyone knew, there was no hurting me,
The evil could try, but only joy would I see,
And the light that spilled from my pure youthful soul,
Filled all the world with love, and made people whole.
Yet some how some people could never see,
The delightful child, of love, who was me,
And so their darkness started to drag me down,
Into the depths, of depression I’d drown,
After, year after year, of heart breaking abuse,
I began to wonder when I’d tie the noose,
Lost was the child of light I had been,
Found was a creature of darkness and sin,
Enlightened I was- The whole world was black,
Love was gone from my life, and was not coming back,
With both heart and mind crazed, I just wanted to die,
I was simply alone, in a world gone awry.
Nothing would change; there would never be hope,
And my only release was a blade or a rope.
Yet some how hope found me, and opened my eyes,
Through caring friends, who saw through each disguise,
They stuck with me, and helped me, through each time of need,
They helped me to find the new life, I now lead,
I became reunited, with the girl I was before,
They brought back my love, and my life’s sweet allure,
Now I am well, you see me at my prime,
I’m no longer naïve, but there’s love in this rhyme,
And through out this poem, what I hope you will see,
Where there’s friends there is hope, and you’ve a friend who is me.

Thanks for sharing your personal story, I rather like it. I think you meant Believe not Belive in your title. That was the only error I saw, and the poem is strong enough that it's a minor quibble.
"Where there’s friends there is hope, and you’ve a friend who is me."
This is my favorite line, I like what you're saying, and it rings true. I think friendship can be stronger than relationships anyway, or less volatile anyway. I suppose both friendships and relationships vary, not all of either are equally strong.
Thanks for entering, and good luck. -

Thanks for the correction, I'll get right on it
and I'm glad you like that last line, because it was a message to you. I know I don't know you at all, but if you want to talk you can come to me.

Thanks Sam,
Yup you were one of the few who could see most of what I was going through.. and what I was putting my self through, but I'm not writing this for myself at all, the person who made this contest is in need of hope, and I want to help him find it.
