My eyes followed the integrated
patterns on the wall.
Ambers and indigos and silvers,
blended to form a kaleidoscope
beside your photograph,
in a equally metallic frame.
I turned my head slightly
towards the window and
glanced at our wind chime.
It’s shades mimicked those
opposite me, reflecting
on the vertical canvas.
Delicate glass shapes
glimmered in front of stars
as light echoed from
passing traffic.
The gentle city lullaby
cast it’s silhouette
and tickled my eyelids closed.
I dreamed of crystal fairies
twirling around our room
and swaying around you.
In the same glistening way
you used to dance with me.
And they kissed the rusted frame
with the gentle notion of your
tender lips on mine.
Then, our fingers interlocked,
and you moved with me
all night long.
And we reminisced about
too many memories.
We were recalling our
final moments together
when my tired eyes realised,
you were now only on my wall;
guarded by a burnished frame
and reflected paint.
Author notes
Wrote half of this while bored at work one day. Then finished it off at home.
It's not true, just an array of colours and thoughts in poetic form. Hope you like it.
Please take what every meaning you get from this. Every word has a purpose.
