Ristras

Ristras of red and green adorn
adobe walls the color of cliffs.
Arid air seasons
drying them slowly
to keep their bite intact.
Hang them for luck and beauty
watch as they gently sway
aglow in southwestern sunset.
Eat them in health with bravery my friend
a cold glass of milk at hand.
