Our song had been
silenced,
darling,
and we have fought our war,
but what we had not known
was that
it wasn’t worth fighting for.
We could have made
a wistful wish
for us to stay together,
but that, darling,
would’ve been foolish,
for it wasn’t meant forever.
Our song had been
silenced,
darling,
and it could have been pretty,
but then again,
you shouldn’t be
immersed in self-pity.
Our song had been
silenced,
darling,
and I’ve been melancholy,
yet I cannot help but wonder
was that all to foresee?

i like the ending. it's kind of like we had this wonderful time in our lives together, but we both know it wasn't meant to be...and the end sneaks in and says "but, what if?". what if we would have stuck it out? my interpretation anyways.
i actually really like this. Thanks for entering. at first i didn't really think this applied to the contest, but after thinking about it, this is exactly unconditional. even after ending, and knowing it wasn't right, there is still love there. beautiful. and thanks again.

These are some wonderful lyrics. I think your words are sad and full of emotiong, but they are very lyrical. A very well written piece.
