If I could Speak .....

Traveling along life’s little highway...
sounds like the perfect beginning  for some fabulous quote.
But truth be told, life isn’t all that and a box of cherry cordials !
Sure you have the infamous “pot hole” reference
over simplifying the tragic issues at hand.
Perhaps it would just sound better to say -
LIFE you suck more times than not
and leave it at that!

Direct to the point dontcha you think.
SO here it is LIFE....
your one SCREWED up adventure after another,
putting it PG of course!
Sometime you just have to say ENOUGH already!

Listen I'm 38 and have no better idea now
than I had before as to the purpose of it all!
Sure I could polish it up,
GLAMORIZE it for you .
Although you and I know
EVERYONE has their story.
Mine really is no different than yours,
our pain caught  on opposites trains,
our memories scrambled up here and there,
but for the most part we all
live and die - eat and drink-
have our sloe of regrets
somehow it turns out in the end.

Like the painted canvas,
layered and layered
until the right combination.
Wow when it does it really does,
PERFECTO,
a master piece has been born!

Listen I know all of this may sound like
blah blah blah,
but a painting exists deep within
the words.
Why go into the details of my mind,
for when the dust settles at my feet
the horizon will stand the tests of time.

It’s the one thing you can always count on!

Regardless of our journey,
or what next drama should appear throughout our day ,
even if you realize it’s you they betray -
just look to the horizon,
she will forever be the same.
Your constant guide,
giving birth to a new day.

The rest,
well it won’t matter as much as it does in this moment-!!
Weird right,
just when you think you have ahold of her
- LIfE -
she slithers through the fingers of your mind,
often running us over
but mostly she passes on by
letting us live out our life on the terms we make.

In the end it really doesn’t matter who or what runs us off this road,
-life-
we just merge back in!
-life-

Even the tiniest of us
fingure it out eventually!
Right Myles!

Yeah, I know...sometimes you just want to cut through all the "bs" and spit it out. No flowers, no drama...just a life floundering about, just like everyone else. Well done my friend!

    BLESSINGS & LOVE,

I see a lot of pain and hope mixed in together within this piece. You express a lot of inner thoughts and wondering. Yep...life certainly has potholes. It also has a lot of meaning.

    Keep writing!

this was a fearless and bold write!
so courageous to unleash so tenderly and revealingly.
    I salute you for that!
    wow!
May you fill your home with lavender to remind you
    of natures beauty and scent.
and yes the tender rose...upon which thorns are always
present. (but darn they smell good don't they!)

Fantastic pouring out of your inner reflections - scrambling and unsrambling and scrambling again!

    This part says a lot to me;

    Regardless of our journey,
or what next drama should appear throughout our day ,
even if you realize it’s you they betray -
    just look to the horizon,
she will forever be the same.
    Your constant guide,
giving birth to a new day.

Life; living fully in her moments is the true beauty and wonder. Life; we keep getting drawn back to Her - in all of her frustration, pain and wonder. Your so right that just when we think we have a handle on Her - wow, does that all get blown out the door! Thank you for sharing your wonderful inner self with us here. This was a very thought-provoking and truthful piece, written with deep sincerity. karen

p.s. like the picture of little Myles that you portray with your wonderful poem; so many lives have it so much worse than us. When I worked doing occupational therapy for little children, many like Myles; I was always painfully reminded of this. I was always astounded by the strength of the will to live and recover, and the power of love and healing! What a precious child he is! You are both in my prayers and meditations. ...

    Life takes and gives, and in the midstream of it all if we are in denial or too much acceptance then we have to bear their bellowing voice that screams silently. Situations come and go and so do the circumstances of life but as you so eloquently express here;

    "just look to the horizon,
she will forever be the same.
    Your constant guide,
giving birth to a new day."

My mom used to say; "if nothing changes, nothing changes". Guess we have to be the ones to make the positive come to life. Your poem is one for us to mull over and ponder as to what we can do to make a difference for those who have no voice, like "Myles".

My heart cries for his deliverance.

    Much Love Always ♥

A wonderful piece. I think you have pretty much summed it all up here, a lot of thought has gone into this. Very well penned.

I can so relate and have many pot holes in my traveled roads. Life is not easy and it is so hard to get back up after we have fallen. But that is the wonderful thing about living we always have tomorrow for another chance. Never give up your hope or faith. I think our pot holes make us who we are and so much stronger. What a wonderful write
