Daylight's Enemy

So harsh is the greeting of morning light
brightly burning sin from this street
morosely we find shelter to wait out the sun
In the shadow land of a cheap hotel
we can reminisce the adventures of evening
when we are at our fairytale best
Night gives the outcast cover
Sinner anonymity, addicts a playground
We run boldly through the shadows
Sleep this day my love be still
For the sun will retire saying farewell
Leaving our guilt behind to frolic in the dark

Author notes

Anonymous - "Why do we love the shadows and the night? My dear, you need only look into your own Stygian desires to find out."

You are so right. Everyone thinks that you can go and hide things in the dark but when that first spect of light comes around, you are not able to anymore. This a wonderful poem. Keep up the good work!
