The darkness of the night
And the brightness of the day
Brings you back to me.
The mention of your name
And the scent of your skin
Forces me back to tears.
Memories crushing me
Your foreign whisper
Your unfamiliar face…
The kiss of a friend
Too much like that of you;
A lover, a saviour,
My hero, my star.
The hand on my own
Too different to matter,
So comforting it hurts.
Pet names that make me sick,
Displays of affection
That make me collapse,
Realising you’re gone,
But who knew?
Memories crushing me
Your foreign whisper
Your unfamiliar face…
I thought you were the one for me,
Ich irrte mich
Author notes
It's a bit choppy, but if you were in my head you'd understand. Just trying to get it down I guess. & I had Swiss going in the background so that explains the use of German.

The repitition of "memories crushing me - your foreign whisper - your unfamiliar face" adds a lot to this poem. Repitition is one of my favorite techniques, and you used it well in this poem.
Best wishes,
Moses
