Sometimes I wish I could put my finger on you
Pin pointing your thoughts and feelings
Knowing your innermost passions and desires
Maybe then I’d understand you better
Sometimes I wish I could interpret the language you speak
So that I could be bilingual just like you are
Able to translate what you mean when you speak to me
I’m sure this language you speak so fluently is quite clever
Sometimes I wish I could become you
Seeing the world through your eyes
Turning you inside out and examining every complex detail
Solving every single riddle I couldn’t find the answer to on my own
Sometimes I wish you would just teach me
Grant this wish by taking me under your tutelage
Edify me with your philosophy; train me in your art
I sit at your feet humbly; anticipating that you will make yourself known
Author notes
I know you folks really don’t need this note but, I had to say this. Ladies and gentlemen do not expect the person you are involved with/ in love with to know how to love you without your help. Without some sort of invitation into the deepest of the deep parts of you this person will never be able to fully love you, and if they do attempt to fully they are hopelessly confused and unsure about the relationship. Just thought I’d share that!

I like the last two lines the best, but I do agree with the message of this poem. You can't really KNOW what another person feels or is going through unless you are them. Relationships can be difficult. People are so different from each other. They don't always have the same views or ideas. They don't have all of the same experiences. Sometimes it's good to just stop and say "I'm trying to understand, but you have to help me understand." I feel this way a lot with my friends. I don't always understand their motivations. How I wish just for one minute I could see things they way they do so I could help them and understand them better.

Truth!
This so speak the truth! If we love someone and we can not open up to them or them to us, then how would we ever get anywhere in the relationship.
opening oneself fully like you have said, takes practice and trust, but the effort should be made to reap all the beauty of love.
