Shadows dance along the ground
Shadows dance over the burial mound
Sadness hanging in the air
So full of despair
Purple tints
We should have seen the hints
Blues racing from the grave
Making all of us its slave
Blacks twirling round
Pulling us deeper into the ground
Reds slowly bleeding in
Pass around the collecting tin
Whites chilling grip
Holding us forever in nights dark nip
Creams from the once happy dreams
Nothing is no longer what it seems
The Shadows are back
Dressed in Black
Clothed in the hues
Demanding its due
Shadows stealing across the ground
Everyone it is time to gather round!
Bow your body to the wind
And maybe then this night will end
But the shadows grubby hands
Still have their demands
Their long chilled fingers stretching out
Taking away all doubt
Deaths no exception
To the shadows deception
And forever night does reign
Letting the light go down the drain
We should have known
But now a ill wind does blow
That you can not escape
That which is your fate
And so with the shadows whirling round
We do so sink into the ground
Eyes close against the tints and hues
And ignore the words of our muse
For the Shadows have taken hold
Since only they are so bold
As to take from the light
That which it has no right
You mind in a bind
You will no longer find
The colors of life
But those of strife
The colors of the night
The shadows are in sight
Don’t try to run
They will only think it fun
It is time to give in
The shadows win.
