Lifting the Pomegranate from the Dark

I wanted to tell you
about the scarlet shrills
of the pomegranate
echoing the sorrows of Persephone ...

I wanted to indicate
that the six pips of indulgence
caused a six month-sleep
stripping her lush green glory
caging her in the Underworld
of the deepest Deep

I wanted to warn you
about the mournings of Demeter
which can trigger
dark depression ...

But then I looked outside
and I suddenly realized:
the deep-red fruit
which betoken the captivity
of Persephone
is intensely announcing
the rejuvenising
Rest of March

myra

amazing - the story of persephone and hades is one of my favorites in all of mythology. This is pure grace of perfect word.

    I wanted to indicate
that the six pips of indulgence
    caused a six month-sleep
    stripping her lush green glory
    caging her in the Underworld
    of the deepest Deep
**this second stanza made it a favorite of mine.

your brain is a fruit to be taken in in small pieces, like a pomegranate, you have to be patient(ohhhhh how I love pmegranates), and not eat it as you peel the shell holding the sweet seeds away, and when you are finally done, mmmm such a feastof sweet tart and fruity flavor, seeds stickin in your teeth, but who cares, for it is so good, you can not ignore the goodness of the fruit, as when I read your beautiful poetry, so much is unknown, yet inside, I feel it, I know what your message is emotionally, the big words, the mythology, they just seem to be the seeds, the seeds of reality, telling me, you are a real person, not without fault, (though I wish I had a fault of being too intellectual and knowledgable LOL) but a beutiful, living person, of whom, I can come and visit, and see seek a bit of strength from when I am feeling weak,
I thank you myra, and I hope you look at this as a completely wholehearted compliment, though I did, manage to litter a bit of hyperbole in there, itis meant, I am glad to have founfd you,
or more accurately to have been found by you :)

Persephone was captured in the Underworld, because she ate 6 pips of the pomegranate ... her mother Demeter, Goddess of the Crops, mourned (winter); Persephone surfaced for 6 months (spring and summer) ... In the Greek Mythology this is a jubilant time. I wanted to point out that symbols of captivity sometimes also implicates symbols of release... thanks for visiting.
