Patient Living (A Quatern)

"Take your time, don't live too fast . . .

Troubles will come and they will pass."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So often life can be a curse,
When people live it in reverse,
And when we’re moving double fast,
Before we know, our time is past.
In such a jumbled universe,
So often life can be a curse
The signs all say it’s speed that kills,
But just back-facing imbeciles.
Yet troubles held will never pass –
They stay, as in a looking glass.
So often life can be a curse,
What could be good gets only worse.
That saying there is grossly true,
The one who said it surely knew,
If you ignore this revered verse
So often life can be a curse.
Author notes
An interesting saying there - and, I like Quaterns
    WOW!!! I am speechless, this seems like something I would write haha! It makes me think of that quote..."If you have one foot in yesterday and one foot in tomorrow, your pissing all over today" So true. And yeah life sometimes does feel like a curse I agree 100% And by the way, LOVE the background. So psychadellic. Another amazing piece by my favourite poet!!
    Thank you for your entry
    I should agree, I believe this contest was very successful. Everyone who entered has done an amazing job and seem to like the Quaterns . This is well done and follows the quote quite well. Living in the fast lane, never slowing down to enjoy what God has given us will kill us sooner than later. Though I think you mixed up the prompts for my contests as the quote prompt was for the Ottava Rima contest, I still feel this embodies spirit. So kudos to you for that.
    The form was spot on. You followed the syllable count perfectly and the refrain line flowed well throughout the poem. A nice strong refrain that brings the reader back to the main point. I appreciate that you chose to rhyme as I think this makes the flow and rhythm much better.
    I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.
    God Bless
    Tammy
    My grandmother's favorite saying was, "This too will pass." She generally said it in times of pain or strife and your poem echoes this thought. Nice use of poetic devices in this quatern. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz
    Ah. Attitude IS everything. No wonder you got the gold for this. It bothered me the tiniest little bit that you used “cursed” so many times. On the other hand, I don’t know what I would have said differently. VERY good.
    A most beautiful poem. I am always amazed by your rhyme scheme and how smooth this flows. Great work indeed. Most profound.
    This sounds a lot like my poem "What Life Is This, What Mortal Waste!" I really like it!! It's a great take on the prompt and it's so true! Too often people stare into the what could have beens rather than facing that what is nows. They miss out on so much wishing for an alternative existance!
    Your rhythm, meter and rhyme are faultless as ever dear daddy and I'm so proud of you for this one!
    Love ya!!!
