I drink the blood of the Earth,
and the trees fear my roar,
yet a man may hold me in his hands.
I am a chainsaw.
I am the yellow hem
of the sea's blue skirt.
I am sand on a beach.
The Moon is my father,
the Sea is my mother;
I have a million brothers,
I die when I reach land.
I am a wave on the ocean.
What has roots as nobody sees,
Is taller than trees,
Up, up it goes
And yet never grows?
I am a mountain.
My step is slow, the snow's my breath
I give the ground, a grinding death
My marching, makes an end of me
Slain by sun, or drowned in sea.
I am a glacier.
