Umm, it's a little diffrent for me, slightly childish, but true, people often hide their happiness, if you're not happy no one can take it from you.

I like your concept and your poem though I find the repetition of "shh" every other line a bit distracting to the flow of the piece. I would like to see Shh perhaps after every fourth line, but that's just my opinion.

Awww. Happiness is such a wonderful emotion. As you have said, people are subborn and selfish, and sometimes just because of a simple little smile, they criticize and blast on and on about what you have to be happy about. Some people just never understand. But its not their choice to take away your happiness, and its never anyones place to take your smile. It isnt such a childish thing to speak of, it's the honest truth of it all. Life can throw you into diffficult situations, sometimes it is only right that you relieve yourself. And the choice is yours!

Shh... I won't tell anyone that you're happy. Childish, or not... it makes a lot of sense because there are people in this world that just can't stand to see someone else happy. Thanks for sharing your perspective. I enjoyed it!

Yes, actually... never thought of it that way... people hide their happiness because of others irritability (I know that I've been the cause of people's downfall in mood, and I'm not happy about it) and at other times they just don't want to make anyone suspicious
a sad life when people have to even hide the good in life after fear, isn't it?

i liked it! it is so true that people hide their happiness. i think it is a defense... and i should know. i believe if you are truly happy, it is contagious and you can't hide it. but, by showing your happiness it can sometimes make you feel vulnerable? well, you sure got me to thinking! thanks!
