Speechless (English Sonnet) - Video Slam

Missing image

The landscape of the heart’s sublime abode
does not compare to any other land
Inside its cavern, blessings are bestowed
impossible for mind to understand

To share the subtle song by dove of Peace
through human language, I will not succeed
since words will nourish logic, brain to please
Constructing concepts not to Truth will lead

The image of a dove is not the bird
ideal of Peace cannot the heart appease
When not the dish, but menu is preferred
the hunger is not stilled, but will increase

If you seek Bliss, the reins of mind release
Through nectar of Shalom, your quest will cease

There are moments of awkwardness here and there, but the thoughts expressed are lovely. In line 13, do you mean "seek" (chercher) rather than "search" (fouiller)?

By the way, every time I read one of your poems, I see and hear you reciting it, in my mind.

thank you again so much, mairi, for suggesting precious options for improvement ... indeed, "search" sounds silly and has been transformed into "seek" ...

      merci mille fois,

That is right, there are several traditions around the world that have a lot to say about the connection between the "inner" self and the learned self. Very interesting.

  • Lovely as usual, Marion. You always capture the beauty of peace and serenity in such beautiful verbage.
