Where is Honor

Where is Honor

When did we lose sight of personal integrity?
Why did we lose it?
Where did it go?
How do we regain it?
How can we know?

Can we even recognize it now?
I believe we lost sight of it
when we gave up responsibility.
When we accepted second best.
When we allowed our children to be less
then was demanded of us,
and thus we became less then our parents.

I believe we lost Honor
when we softened our stand on issues,
judgements, and consequences.

I believe we lost Honor
when we avoided necessities
for ease of living and wrong thinking.
I believe we lost Honor
when we stopped demanding
a hard handshake,
instead we allow soft marshmellows,
without comment.

I believe we lost Honor
when we began to desire money
more then integrity.
When fancy homes and cars
became more then desires
they became our survival.
Or, so we think.

I believe we lost Honor
because of ourselves, not others.
Avoiding responsiblity
is less then honorable.

I believe we have lost Honor
in all but a few.
I believe their are some
Who knew.
Bill Cosby, Harrison Ford,
John Wayne, Ronald Regan
To name a few.

I believe in Honor
I believe in its Justice
I believe in integrity
I believe in Honesty
I believe in trust

Do you...

    Hey Chuck,

I love this poem and concur 100% with every single word. Really amazing. I'm going to share it with the friend I told you about regarding the group I told you about. (haha - I feel like Robert DeNiro in Analyze This. i.e., "Did you talk to the guy about the thing?") Excellent poem, buddy. It's going on my favorites list immediately, if not sooner.

    Have a great weekend!

Excellent work, friend. I only noticed one tiny thing to correct in the next to last stanza. 'Their' should be 'there.' Those two words are so blasted easy to confuse, especially when you're typing quickly or distracted.

I loved this one. It's just what I wanted when I started this contest. Thanks for entering.

    HORRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I grew up watching John Wayne! This poem is absolutly incredible!!! I am sending this to my husband as well. He will admire your words as much as I.

"When we allowed our children to be less
    then was demanded of us,
and thus we became less then our parents."

These were a few of my favorite lines. It is so true that as the generations pass us by, we are becoming less, though we think that because of our technology, we are better than our elders. This poem is amazing! I wish you the best of luck in the contest, though I doubt you will need luck, its a sure winner in my book

I wish I could applaud more.

The chain of command without it we have chaos... people no longer know the right of what is free speech and what is treason. The right of responsibility and what is turning your back on America's finest sent to defend this country.
Greed is rampant and the attitude I have mine now you get yours... is too. I do not agree with the hero's you have chosen you man you... the rest of the poem how ever is totally without a "price" in my opinion.

I believe in this poem. Honor and integrity are so important, in ourselves, and so rare these days. And the ease of living is nearly departed us because many believe in money like a god. Honesty in the word yes or no, and trust. These things you mentioned that only a few hold dear are priceless--they help define us. While others kill for money. Steal for it. They'll do anything. Life is priceless, not money.

I'm striving for the ease of living, operating on less, traveling light, with my morals and values in tact and thriving.

Thank you for this. This world needs to know. Hope you are well, Friend.
    Love,
    Kelly

To believe and to do are two different justice systems, lies and truths, who wants to decypher, the prsident or us, I think we can do a better job than most that we have had,(not bashing) but truth is truth in our Honor System..I believe in getting assignments done Accurately! not to condemn our men to horror! no one deserves that!
thanks for the read, good luck..
