on snow crusted branch
the cardinal bows to cold
as spring sun rises.

This is a wonderful little poem
and I thank you for it.
You have built in contrat and season and positioning of the subject, the cardinal.
Fine work. Thank you.
Lyndon of the Winklings. -
Love the lines and think you have created a wonderful nature portrait.
Sweet enchantment of the arrival of spring in spite of the cold.

Yes! welcome spring, adieu to cold.

worship
hello there!
Your haiku makes it sound as if the cardinal is worshipping the cold; that is why the bird is bowing to the cold. It's an interesting image! How does a bird bow to the cold? I don't get it! It's intriguing but I don't understand what you are trying to show me. I hope you can explain it to me as I'm very interested to have this haiku unlocked for me.
Best of wishes in the contest.
Have a gr8 day,
BJ. -

watch a bird.
Then reply again. As far as what they bow to...? That is up to personal interpretation, poetic license and the impression the watcher gets at any given moment of watching.
I got one impression, you another. We all place our own believes and feelings into what we see and what we write or read.
But really, watch a bird. They are very enlightening.
