Just a Note

Just a note to say I'm living-
That I'm not among the dead.
Though I am getting more forgetful
And mixed up in the head.
I got use to my arthritis-
To my dentures I've resigned.
I can manage my bifocals
But gosh I miss my mind!
Before the fridge so often
My poor head fills with doubt,
Have I just put food away
Or come to take some out?
So, if I haven't written,
There's no need for getting sore.
I may think that I HAVE written and
Don't want to be a bore.
Just remember that I love you and
Wish that you were near.
Now it's time for me to go so
I'll say good-bye my dear.

I see why this got the gold. I love your rhyme and the flow was excellent. Reminds me somewhat of my write called age-discovered.

Thank you for your entry in the contest with this unusual and slightly wry look at growing old. It was a pleasure to read.

    All the best at judging

This was cute...a very enoyable little read! The rhymes are great, and the subject matter is both amusing, and sobering...as we are all getting older, and age seems so unkind.

    Delightful. I loved it.

Don't you just love what age does?? I'm constantly amazed at how much time effects my mind. It seems I've been noticing more changes in my body and memory in the last couple of years and I can only assume it will get worse. I think it's funny too. It's very light and enjoyable. Good luck in your contest!
