The Innocent's Son

In hand to hand combat
to the death, we did fight
and we died here together
in the dawn’s early light.

Two strangers with families
we’d never more see,
but our governments told us
we were bad enemies.

So we battled it out,
and we both did our best,
to defend our beliefs
with our last final test.

But the battle goes on
and no-one has won,
as a war takes it toll
on the innocent’s son.

Author notes

war takes its toll.....no one really 'wins'....

    Well penned

    reflects my sentiments.....to a "t"...
being mothers of sons...it is so heartbreaking to see so many young lives lost, for nothing. Maybe someday, mankind will wake up!
    Thanks for sharing~
    Best wishes always!

Thanks islekine - glad you enjoyed.
I don't think anyone really wins in a war - we all lose.

    this is clear
    and the message is evident
and so needs to be heard
    what loss for not
    how sad are we
    this is lovely
    this is outside the box
where our beliefs are more of revenge and we are unable to see no one wins.
when the box get overwhelming everyone will step out
beautiful done with a touch of brilliance
    God bless you my friend...
