I close my eyes and feel my heart break
I wish you were lying here next to me
How much more of this can I take?
When will my dreams become reality?
I want to listen to your breathing
The steady rise and fall of your chest
I can’t be content with make-believing
I want you with me for the worst and best
I want to share our laughter
Ringing through the air
Our voices twined together
Floating in the atmosphere
I want to feel your fingers
Curled gently around mine
I want these moments to linger
To slow down and then stop time
I want to dance my first dance
With you to lead the way
I want to take my biggest chance
And have my breath taken away
I want you to take my soul
And keep it safe from harm
I want us to be a whole
When I’m sinking in your arms
I want to share my entire life
With you, through thick and thin
And even when things don’t look bright
When I look at you it’s not so dim
I want to wake up in your eyes
And I want to watch you in your sleep
I never want to say good-bye
Cause next to me you’ll always keep
You are the best friend I’ve ever had
You are my everything
You cheer me up when I am sad
You make my spirit want to sing
But no one’s here to hug me
I’m by myself, what should I do?
Come back to me already
Because it hurts when I miss you

Great content here. Best of luck.

This is soo good! I love poems like this! The rhyme scheme keeps up throughout the whole piece, and the poetic flow is good. It touches a lot of little shriveled up hearts, including mine.
Best of luck in the contest.
