~* Drowning In The Pit Of Despair *~

Missing image

Save me!

I am sinking in the mud, and there is no solid ground.

The muddy waters are about to drown me.

I'm worn out, calling for help, and my throat is aching.

I have strained my eyes looking for help.

~*~

Save me from sinking in the mud, save me from the murky water.

Don't let the flood of despair come over me, don't let me drown in its depths,

or sink into its muddy grave.

Troubles and suffering are upon me.

~*~

How can I restore my strength, and keep me from this grave?

Will I ever find comfort and peace again?

I have tried to think the problems through, but it is too difficult

for me.

~*~

My body and mind grow weak, I have no strength to fight.

The murky waters threaten my existence.

I scream out loud for help, but no one hears me

as I sink deeper in the mud.

~*~

I lay awake all night, with my hands in prayer.

Yet still I find no comfort.

I think of days gone by, and remember years of long ago,

as I spend the night in deep thought.

I think about all I have done, and recall the wonders,

that I have done in the past, and remember the deeds.

~*~

But what hurts me the most is this.....

As I am drowning in the murky waters, sinking deeper in the mud,

no one hears me.....

"Save me, for I am drowning", I cry out,

but no one hears.....

I am alone....

and I sink.

Have you ever been so down when you thinking that you are loosing yourself?
Well this poem is about just that.... Loosing yourself.
Drowning in the pit of despair!

First of all thanks so much for entering my contest, I love that picture, I spent a few minutes just looking at it before even reading the poem...
The start of the poem seemed a bit off, but the further it got in it got a lot smoother...
I really enjoyed the idea behind it, drowning in a pit of despair, I often feel as though I'm drowning, it's hard to breathe and all you can think about is that one thing, drowning, or the pain you're feeling...
Well done, thanks for entering, good luck

I went back and re-read the poem, and could see what you meant when you said it seemed a bit off.To me it read a bit rough, so I edited some of lines all throughout the whole write, and now it reads much smoother.I thank you for pointing this out to me and appreciate your honesty.

Nice write, you have gave us a wonderful descriptive poem of the feeling of drowning. A very unpleasant and terrible way to feel. Good imagery with your words thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
