Just Because

Why can't I have Tuesday
It's only a day you know
and
I really want each Tuesday
Just because.

It could be any other day
but Tuesday is the one
and
I really want my Tuesday
Just because

If I could just have Tuesday
at least I'd have a life
And
it would always be my Tuesday
Just because

I don't think I'll ever have Tuesday
and that's OK I guess
but
I really do want Tuesday
Just because

Just becasue is always the answer to everything. When in doubt of what reason to give, 'Just because' works just fine. Nice poem.

  • i really, really liked this! the form makes for a great flow. I love that your reason for wanting Tuesday, is "just because"....

funny, tuesday in french is called "mardi", and it is the day honoring the planet "mars" ... planet of courage, strength, force, also of war ... maybe unconsciously you have interwoven your verse with this particular energy of determination and willpower that characterizes this day-planet-deity ...

the "just because" is very charming - I'm seeing a little child in front of me, trying to convince its mum to give it what it wants ... is it you ? is it me ? is it fantasy ?

    this is cool

this is cool yeah why can't you have tuesday, and just because. i use to say that only i said why can't i have mon, wed, friday.i'm on dialysis and i use to do tues, turs, sat. and that messed up the weekend especialy for my hubby.and me for going anyplace so why can't i have. just because. we should have what we want just because. you pick a doc appointment day and you say i'd like to have tuesday. and it's just because

  • ...Just because.

There is much power in the limitations set before us. Tuesday seems like such a simple request and yet again, how many of us actually HAVE Tuesday?

It is a good day -

I enjoyed this light and thoughtful work. Very very well done. ~Pamela

To answer your IM question, it has a certain capriciousness to it, which makes it fun. Obviously, it is well written. It's the capriciousness to it that makes it engaging and alluring.

If it were in my power I'd give you Tuesday, as yet my knowledge of magic isn't that advanced. I like this its got a delicious touch of eccentricity to it.

I really like this one, it flows very well. It seems a bit empty though...like it could do with a bit more feeling. Just a thought though.

  • Ah, Tuesday. Such a fickle day. Makes one want it more.

Ahh, there was me thinking it was Wednesday that was full of woe, or as I wrote within a poem once, the semi colon of the week...
The poet seems to say he is fullfilled six out of the seven days but something about Tuesdays leaves him bereft.
Most freeverse is left aligned as opposed to the central presentation prefered by rhyming poets and most freeverse poets don't capitalize every line regardless of it not being a true new line, however, the beauty of freeverse is there are no rules per se, nothing conform too, but a chance for the poet to orchestrate their own points with their own voice.
    You did that!

But then I'm a left aligned rhyming poet! The capitals are a hang-over from my usual stuff, I shall now redo it without and see what I think, thank-you for that.

Yes I know this pain. I am sorry that it ends and begins all at the same time. Sigh. Head up man, tomorrow is another day and a good one.

The way that Tuesday is taken is why I want it.
I'll just settle for the other six days and complain!
