The story takes place in a fictitious world set in the not too distant future where there is more (but still limited) knowledge of magic and paranormal activity. The two main characters are Vincent and Acacia. They are a married couple who recently begin to suffer from nightmares and find an ancient symbol on their bodies. In their dreams (that eventually become visions as well) there are images of a woman held against her will, the symbol, much suffering and a natural disaster that could wipe out the planet. The dream also shows three other people who are a threat to the the woman and the planet. (For Acacia one of the people is Vincent and vice versa) They learn that the woman in the dreams is a Goddess named Aurelia who was captured secretly by a corporation called Sequentia "S.Q." It becomes clear the they are supposed to release her from her imprisonment to stop a calamity from tearing their planet apart. However the four people with the dreams are to kill each other as well and the last one standing is will join with the Goddess as her sort of General.
Not only do Vincent and Acacia not want to kill each other, but they do not want that power, however they do realize that they need to release the Aurelia. They are attacked by another who also has the dreams and does want that power. Their goal at first is to avoid him, S.Q. members and reach the S.Q. headquarters to release Aurelia before she is killed so that she can stop the disaster from happening. It is a great distance and takes a long time to reach their destination. Along the way Vincent and Acacia have some loyal friends to protect them. Boomer, Cherry and Rafe are asked to help them. Where as Fiona is pulled in the middle of everything and HAS to join the party. And Cid is someone they need with them because they learn that he is part of Sequentia. At a village they learn more about Aurelia and what the disaster is from a woman named Lorena, who also joins the party.
