I remember when you went away.
I felt my heart would break.
I waited those long nights for you
when you promised you’d come back.
I remember crying myself to sleep
more times than I care to admit.
But I was sure beyond a doubt
that you’d come back for me.
So when I heard your train was in,
I went to meet you at the tracks.
And that was when I figured out…
that you hadn’t come back for me.
I saw her as she ran to you,
saw the joy in her eyes.
I saw the way you looked at her
as if all time had stopped.
I hope that things work out with her.
I’m sure you will be happy.
I just wish you wouldn’t have trapped me here;
that you would have set me free.
I found the letter you gave me.
You told me not to cry.
And I realize now
that you really meant
you were telling me goodbye.

"And that was when I figured out…
that you hadn’t come back for me."
This truly hurts...such a sad yet very sincere piece...I've felt the longingness of someone who wants to be loved by someone whom he/she knows would never loved him/her back...

-
Beautiful.
The notion of lost love is also one of a love that you never seemed to know.
That fits perfectly into this contets.
