You Cured Me Of My Foolish Obsession With Love

I remember I used to draw those hearts on paper
(blackened hearts on the snowy white)
And wrote your name on the lines
                  (____ _________)
Such a naive little girl
(with a pen in her hand)
Who believed in Prince Charming
(from a not too distant land)
That would come and wake her
(and replace this dream with life)
But you showed me the truth in love
(lovers don't lead with their hearts)
So this body I saved won't be yours
(ignored for the fact that I'm not a whore)
I know what I am isn't much
(an offering of words and no more)
I am falling in love it seems
(with a picture on the computer screen)
So I traced a heart on the paper
(and wrote your name on the line)
I kept your heart on the paper
(for it was the only way it would be mine)

Author notes

Just trying a new style for me? I was bored in algebra 2 so I experimented on paper. I have a picture of this guy that I can't stop looking at. A face that I have seen so many times in the past and I never took a second glance.I always thought he'd be there in some form in my life. But now he's gone but not too far away and all I have is the screen.
