Our words are empty
Our hearts begin to wilt
& once something dies
It can never be revived
All I have are the memories
& an empty bed
Late nights on the phone
& occasional visits
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder
But mine is growing weaker by the hour
& you can't compensate
For the lack of mine
You're hanging on to me by shredded threads
& you think about letting go
But you don't want to give up on your reason to live
You don't want to give up on what we use to have
You don't want to give up on what we could be
You don't want to give up on what I need
The distance between us
Puts spaces between us
& disingrates the love
I only hope,
What we have is strong enough

This was an amazing poem :]

Your poem sounds like its coming from experiance. Long distance relationships requite alot of commitment by both people, a will to make it work, and a good match. They are really hard and most never make it. You share that in your poem. Good luck with the contest.
