season's haiku

winter blankets us
with it's softly fallen snow
spring's finally here

Author notes

i love haiku's!!. they are my favorite type of poetry. the simplicity of a 5-7-5, 3 lined poem has a certain lovleyness to them....hope you guys enjoy my haiku....i'm learning to get better.

  • I like your haiku. I do not write them myself, but I appreciate the beauty and the simiplicity. They are a truly elegant artform. It is fitting for me to read it now. The snows have finally receded and the buds are coming out on the trees.

    A good 5-7-5 poem

    that is definitely seasonal.
However, a contrasting idea follows two continuous lines of the one winter image.
Even so, I did enjoy this poem.

    beginner

    Hello there!

Good to see another beginner entering this contest. It's also good to see that you are going by the old-fashioned early 20th century method of writing haiku where the important things are the syllable count and the references to nature.

Your images are a little cliched, but I guess that's because you are (like me) a beginner. That winter blanket must surely be wearing thin by now (LOL)!

All the best in the contest.

    Have a gr8 day,
    BJ.
