24 Years - Only One Hour Away

You are so close yet so far away.
I live in Chicago,IL; you live in Streamwood,IL.
I had done a map search to see how far away you are.
You are one hour away on the expressway.
The thing is I don't drive the expressway, never tried it.
If I take the scenic route it would only take 1 hour 10 minutes.
Temptation is so close it scares me, I want to see you again.
My problem is not getting to Streamwood.
My problem is when I get there what will happen.
Would you still remember me after 24 years?
If you did would you be angry with me?
My heart is racing just thinking about seeing you again.
Yeah I remember you are married.
How can I forget, your wife use to be my best friend.
I wouldn't cause you any problems with her, that's where we were different.
She told you some lies I can't believe you thought were true.
When you came to your senses it was too late, she was pregnant.
You and I were friends, actually we were more than friends.
I miss the friendship we had, I miss our private times together.
I honestly don't know what I would say to you.
Surely it wouldn't be how I still feel about you.
For 24 years you lived so close, an expressway away.
For all those years my heart ached for you, it still does.
You are only one hour away but it seems like eternity.
I miss you,you are my best friend; I'd really like to see you again.

    Think many of us have someone like that - who is so close, but yet so far away. Sure would be nice to meet them again, wouldn't it? Sentiments well expressed in these lines.
