The Lone Wrist Watch

Sigh,
All night in this dusky dugout,
No one has come for me.
up here on this cold shelf
next to an empty water bottle
i wait

ticking slowly hour by hour
no one comes
Darkness

i slowly drift off to sleeeepp......

Morning it's 7:03a.m.
still no one has come to get me
I stare out onto the empty base-ball diamond
it looks lonley and abandoned,
like me
no one misses me i think

then 2 lights in the distance
coming  closer and closer
it's the 2 headlights of my owners car
coming to take me home

at last

Author notes

i know it's corny but i left my watch at a softball game once after we got it back i thought it would be an interesting topic. So i hope you liked it!

This is a very interesting poem. It is very well written. Are you saying that you would take your watch, that's what I think you are saying? Thanks for entering and good luck!

Aww, it's a very interesting subject. I liked this. And such a happy ending, hey!

Can I just ask you one thing? Which one of the options did you pick? I think it was the last one -- the object...but just making sure.

    Thanks for entering, good luck!
