The Inconvenience of Being Alive

Gently laquered
Ice-cold and stirring
Marble and precious metals
Reflecting in life-bearing sun-star
Laughter filling and holding sweetly
Deliciously
.
As beauty beheld in said eye of beholder
All outside we see
Is dead
But the undeath and age seeping so far inside him
But the life shining brightly
Love glimmering in beauty
To feel the strange warmth radiating
From ice-skin soft as silk
His arms holding me
His lips brushing mine
The power apparent
But with fear showing through
The childish needs
Masked feeb'ly by sarcasm
Arrogance, confidence
Not daring to let anyone see
Holding stength for the both of us
Refusing to be
.
When the urge overwhelming
Consuming, confusing
Eyes glowing like night
Still carressing me tenderly
Control in the enth
Degree
His 'curse' binding
Inwardly
He's straining
Bleeding from wounds he cannot share
Wounds that I cannot fix
If he would only let me try
.
I can't bear my weakness
My disability
Always the damsel in distress
The clumsy, awkward fool
With all I could do
And all I could be
If he would only change me
I would be no longer the child
Doe-eyes wide with fear
But a partner, an equal
I could help, not detain
There would be no one else lost
No more blood spilled over me
.
But would he still love me?
When I am cold, and hard
Graceful, independent
My own pair of gold eyes
Would I still be 'his'?
Would he realize
The only captivation
Was my flowing, flowered scent
That I'm soft, and warm
My blush spreading like plague?
.
And yet, as I see him
All thoughts vanish to dust
Cradled against him
His voice chasing away my fears
My ghosts and my demons
Keeping me safe
The blossoming lust, overcoem by the love
Keeping me warm
.
He and I
Are we
Against all odds
Despite all opposition
And for this small moment
This small capsule of time
Of the gods
I give thanks
.

This is amazing...the way you captured Bella's worries. The metaphors are great, and i just love the way you describe immortality. Grats on your Trophies, you truely deserved them, with this piece of work!

looks like you put a lot of work into this poem. good job and good luck <3
  • Simply stunning. Beautifully written.
  • I didn't even realize this was a Twilight poem when I first glanced at it. Looking over again, I realized it was a poem in Bella's point of view! I love Twilight!
I think you've captured her thoughts wonderfully, if a little bit off rhythym. I thoroughly enjoyed this, even if free-verse isn't really my thing. I wish you the best of luck in the contest!
  • Ah, Bella and Edward? The most wonderful series of literature I have ever laid eyes on I believe. (Not to shun Stephen King, but its the truth) This is quite irrelevant to your brillant poetry, but do you happen to know when the next book comes out?

Wow. Great use of alliterisation. Metaphors were really good. I'm amazed at your brilliant talent. I have been writing since I was five. At your age, I could never have written a poem with this much meaning and imagery! I can see why this one won gold! Congratulations! Will keep checking back on your writes!
