Day 1
No, no!
I don’t want to leave
This nice, cozy home.
So warm, so secure
In mommy’s tummy.
No, no!
It’s so cold.
The light hurts my eyes.
Tall things around me
Make strange noises.
No, no! I won’t!
A person in white
Puts me in someone’s arms
Her face looks tired,
But she seems happy to see me.
Day 2
I am sleepy...
Yesterday was a tiring day.
I went to a building,
One smaller than the big huge gray one.
And people were there.
Lots of ladies were, too.
One lady...
She gave the tired mommy clothes,
But I don’t think they’ll fit her.
They are too small for her.
I feel yucky.
Daddy is throwing me in the air
And my tummy isn’t happy.
Oh no...
Nasty stuff comes out of my mouth
All over daddy.
It tastes bad.
Daddy doesn’t think it tastes good either,
Because his mouth is open and he is making a face.
Day 3
In the house now,
I am in my crib
And all I can do is
Look up at the balloons around me.
I can’t read them,
But they are colourful
And surely say happy things on them.
I can also see
People smaller than tired mommy
But bigger than me...
They are a boy and a girl.
They look just like each other.
Their faces are happy to see me
And I am glad to see them.
I laugh a little blubbering baby laugh
And smack my hands together.
I love their smiles,
The way they love everything.
They talk.
The boy says to the girl, Ellie,
And the girls says to the boy, Adam.
Such pretty names.
I shall go to sleep and dream about them.
