a letter

Foolish hope
Peering out from behind my eyes
Quislings
Traitors
Beseechers all

You plead
You beg
You weep to look upon those eyes

Beautiful smile you left for a while
Haunting me in my dreams
Deeper pools of a darker loam
Give me leave of these dreams
Fertile imagination
Set me free from these dreams that I roam...

Such a beautiful smile
I've never seen...
Eyes alight with a playful delight
...your face

Your hair falling in wind tossed waves across your face
I look for you as I walk to class
Searching
I see you in their eyes
The others
The girls you aren't...

They are all beautiful
But they are not you
I see you in their absent smiles
Hear you in their voices

A face in the crowd I thought I knew

One day
Some day
When the time has come
I will look into your eyes
I will run my fingers softly across your cheek
I will treasure the breath of each kiss

Your soul etched upon your pretty face.

Not pretty
Such a petty word
Beautiful if you would permit
Could I but whisper in your ear

Something about your eyes
Something about your smile
Something about the way you walk
Something about your kiss
Something about your embrace
Something about your laugh

But dear heart
Do not mistake me
Every other girl,
or woman if you would be known as the other,
Has eyes
a smile
a walk
a kiss
an embrace
a laugh

But the beauty of yours is that they are just so...
...they are yours.

So understand me when I say I love you
And give me a wink when you see me looking at you

As I watch your soul shine through your eyes
ring in your laughter
sway in your grace
resonate in your voice
burn in your kiss

The wonders of you

    Fantastic

    When you find her, give her this poem. This is beautiful and a testament to steadfastness. You admit, as you search for "the one" that you meet many beautiful girls, but none of them are "her" and you will not settle for less. In a world where love has become equated with lust this poem feels likes a piercing light, calling us to something higher than animal desires.

    I love that this poem is intense but not lustful. The respect you have for the woman you will one day love resonates in every line. I especially like the first line of the fifth stanza. I can just see your lady love's hair cascading down her face. I usually don't like love poetry, but this poem just made my day.
