A cold heartless stare.
I shrink back in terror.
"God save me!"
I whisper with no hope.
I try to run,
but cannot.
For I'm frozen in
raw fear. I
hear a peircing
scream and with a
slight start
I realize it's me!
You are the monster
in my dreams. The
unidentified bump in
the night.
With your dripping
fangs, and pale
horrifying eyes.
You are my own
worst nightmare.
You are me.

Wonderful imagery and the last line is a delicious twist that caught me by surprise. Thank you for your entry.

Oh, this is dark and deep... I love the referance of the monster being the person him/herself. It brings such thoughtful depth to this whole piece. We can be our own monsters time to time, each of us in our very own way, and that's one of the most terrifying things about humanity. And you did such a wonderful work putting all that to these words. Wonederful work with this piece!
