I tell him the rain must be falling
& he sweeps the hair out of my eyes
gently kissing the gloss off of my lips
burning a moment inside my skull
[We interlaced our forevers inside each other's pockets
hoping maybe one day we'll be together for a day like this.]
& we lie in the grass until the wind rolls away
defining a storybook version of a real life romance
singing away about our dreams, hopes, & wishes
kissing the infidelities off each other's bodies
[We danced along the sidewalks in our love song way
knowing that one day we'll be together again for a day like this.]
