Dwelling in the land of cotton
fields she grew up a rose
among the weeds.
From Arkansas to an educator
she has planted many
fertile seeds.
Thriving in her piety
life was not an easy pill;
She swallowed the knock-downs
but she kept climbing the hill.
Taught me a lesson yet
she never knew me.
I sang in that old cage
though not as long as she.
I admire, her glow of
perfection….. “I Rise”
Searching for her starry
halo in the azure skies.
Her peace lifts up our
eyes to the heavens high,
God heres her words above.
As I dream in awe of
the Poetic Princess; her
dynamic exuberance, love.
