The world began in summer;
Sun taking the place
Of a kind and loving soul
With weary eyes, and kind old face
The new-formed insects shrilled quite high
Most of the being wondered, "Why?"
And the greenery shriveled
Under the heat
With nothing to drink;
Yet plenty to eat
One by one
Gone and gone
Emptiness left
In place of a song
For the feast they did rejoice
At the same time weeping heavily
For the loss of another, without a voice.
The world morphed now quite strangely
With a tweak of color and fallen soul
Drifting from the stretched-out hands
Of a trees' bleached branches, now gone cold
Shivering; for the warmth of the leaves
Just fallen, now had gone
They had depended on eachother- one for warmth
The other for a home.
And the fog rolled in, and the fog rolled out
Wise it came, wise it stayed
Chilling, killing, willing beings
to find their voice, and not to stray.
A warning was the burst of fall
For now a blanket fell
A strange one at that, still bringing sleep
But a sleep of death to whoever were quelled
With the chill of the white, ringing
Like a sexton with a bell.
At the same time as silent
As a rabbit sleeping tight
In his small compact burrow
Under starlit night.
And the world must have been fed up
Or perhaps just feeling mean
For the beautiful white meadows
Covered all and every green.
And the moon reflected, beaming bright
Off the pure and whitest snow
Being blinded by itself
And basking in its glow.
Like a bud; Like a bright, new symphony;
The world burst into glorious spring!
Flowers cracking open like the hatching eggs
New everything, everywhere;
No pleading; no begs;
New sound; new song; new life; new skies;
New ground; new dreams; new joy; new cries;
And the songs were sung, filling the air with sounds-
And suddenly it went silent, through skies and through grounds-
With a sigh the world shrugged like it was the grand plan.
Back to summer- when the world began...

I love the title, it immediately begins this story and makes you want to know more. The story itself is wonderful, I love how you describe each season in this story not on its beauty or best aspects per say, but by what the season can give in survival and the thoughts of those surviving. Wonderful.

That was very good. I've read poems similar to that but they weren't as good.
